wins three awards at Cannes including 'Best Handset' with Sharp GX1019

the 2003 GSM Association Awards Ceremony in Cannes, France, yesterday
evening, Vodafone was awarded the mobile industry’s most prestigious
awards in two categories, Best Consumer Wireless Application or Service
and Best Television or Broadcast Commercial for its global consumer
service, Vodafone live! In addition, Vodafone's premium handset for
Vodafone live!, the popular Sharp
GX10, won the Best Wireless Handset Award for the Sharp Corporation.
Vodafone live! was launched by Vodafone across
Europe in October 2002, bringing a new world of colour, sound and pictures
to Vodafone’s customers through an easy to use colour menu, accessed
from integrated camera phones. Vodafone live! customers can take and
send picture messages, download and play the latest mobile games and
polyphonic ringtones, send and receive voice, text and e-mails, instant
message with friends and get the information they want, whenever and
wherever. Vodafone and Sharp worked closely together
through the specification, design and testing of the GX10. The unique
specifications included a specially developed ‘hot button’
for rapid access to the Vodafone live! menu and an enhanced version
of Java to provide customers with the ultimate gaming experience. The
GX10, exclusive to Vodafone, also incorporates a built-in camera, high-quality
colour screen, polyphonic sounds and pre-loaded exclusive games. "It
